When I first came to the UK as an international student, my main focus was completing my studies. Like many students, I also thought about what would happen after graduation. Would I have to leave immediately? Could I stay and work? What options would I have?


After completing my degree, I decided to apply for the UK Graduate Visa. The process taught me a lot, and I hope sharing my experience will help anyone preparing for the same journey.


What Is the Graduate Visa?


The UK Graduate Visa allows eligible international students who have successfully completed a qualifying degree in the UK to stay and work after finishing their studies. One of the biggest advantages is that you don't need a job offer before applying. You can work full-time, part-time, become self-employed in most cases, or continue building your career while living in the UK.


My Experience


For me, applying for the Graduate Visa was exciting, but it also came with a few worries. I wanted to make sure I met all the requirements and submitted everything correctly.


One thing I learned is that it's important to keep checking your email after you apply. The Home Office may contact you if they need additional information or documents. Responding promptly can help avoid unnecessary delays.


Waiting for a decision can also be stressful. During that period, I tried to stay positive, continue applying for jobs, and focus on my future instead of worrying every day.

Is the Graduate Visa Worth It?


For me, the Graduate Visa provides an opportunity to gain valuable work experience in the UK and continue building my professional career. It also gives graduates time to explore different career paths and gain experience that could support future visa applications.
