When I first arrived in the UK as an international student, I thought finding a part-time job would be easy. I had worked before in my home country and believed my experience would be enough. I quickly realised that getting a job in the UK was very different from what I expected.

For weeks, I applied for job after job. Every morning, I opened Indeed and LinkedIn, searching for vacancies that matched my skills. I sent out my CV to supermarkets, hotels, warehouses, universities, and customer service roles. Most days, I heard nothing back. Sometimes I received rejection emails, and other times there was complete silence.

At first, I wondered if I was doing something wrong.
